Name, profession, location

Daniel Ghilwet. Anti-Money Laundering Business Associate. Chicago IL

Why did you decide to be a member of EDN?

I decided to become a member of EDN because I wanted to find an opportunity to give back to the Eritrean community in some capacity. It was in learning about EDN that I felt I had found an organization that would help me in fulfilling this goal. EDN’s mission statement, to advance the Eritrean community through non-partisan community empowerment perfectly aligned with my vision of helping the diaspora.

Tell us about the work you do in your work group?

As a member of the Professional Development work group, I support our goal to grow and harness the potential of the diaspora community, by creating networking & mentoring opportunities, as well as producing a monthly newsletter that provides career tips and highlights outstanding Eritrean professionals across the country.

What do you enjoy most about being a member of EDN?

Being a part of a group that is focused on helping to empower fellow Eritreans throughout the diaspora, and working with smart, creative, and energetic members.

If you could describe EDN using 3 words what would they be?

Collaborative, Committed, and Passionate.

What would you tell someone looking to be volunteer or future Member of EDN?

I would tell someone looking to be a volunteer or a future member of EDN to voice your interest and reach out to EDN! EDN is always looking for talented and hungry individuals.  I would also recommend that you start thinking about specific reasons as to why you would like to join EDN, and how you can use your experience to grow the organization. Whether joining the professional development group, or civic engagement group, EDN has many opportunities for individuals to contribute.
