This year marks a meaningful milestone for the EDN Scholarship Fund. Together, our community raised over $27,000, and the generosity of our sponsors was instrumental in making that achievement possible. Since 2019, we have come together to raise more than $140,000 in support of Eritrean students, an extraordinary accomplishment that speaks to the strength of our community and our shared belief in the promise of the next generation.
This year, that generosity allowed us to increase the scholarship award from $2,500 to $3,000, providing students with greater financial support as they pursue their education and build their futures. For the 2026–27 academic year, nine Eritrean American students received scholarships. While each award provides important financial assistance, its meaning extends far beyond the dollar amount. Each scholarship is a reminder to these students that their community believes in them, values their aspirations, and is invested in their success.
We are deeply grateful to the Eritrean businesses and foundations that supported the scholarship fund this year. Their generosity represents more than a financial contribution. It is an investment in the future of our community. By supporting these students, they are helping the next generation pursue opportunities that will shape their lives, their families, and the communities they will serve. The impact of their generosity will be felt far beyond this academic year, in the classrooms these students enter, the careers they pursue, and the ways they give back in the years ahead.
